Sailing Clubs in Central Florida

West Coast Trailer Sailing Squadron (WCTSS), Tampa, FL
- ICW from Cedar Key to Fort Meyers with occasional trips to the Keys to the south and Pensacola to the north.  Sea Pearl based.  I belong to this club and Ron - The Commodore? - is a great guy!

Central Florida Yacht Club (CFYC)
- ICW on both coasts and interior lakes.  Precision based.  Jack is a regular poster on the Potter Website and a nice guy to boot, even if he has a Hunter.  Sorry Jack, I couldn't resist.

Each club is loosely based on a specific type of sailboat but welcomes everyone who sails.  Membership is not required to sail with the club but is encouraged to support newsletters, websites, and sailing events.  I have sailed with both clubs and they are all really great people, with an extremely mixed bag of sailing experience, and are all friendly.  If you ask for help with just about anything they will gladly help you, or if you prefer to flail around as I do, they let you do that too.

I have to say to anyone, who has never been a member of a sailing club, that they are exactly what the name implies - friends and acquaintances who own a sailboat too.  Get out and try one, you'll like it!

I passed this rough but salty looking Nor'Sea 27 named Iota, Hull # 37, going north on I-75 near Tampa, FL.

What a beautiful design but not trailerable by anything but a semi.
